Misbah is new test captain of Pakistan cricket team after Younas Khan, Muhammad Yousaf, Shahid Afridi and Salman Butt. Misbah is seeking his form in batting and Pakistan team is currently surrounded by different problems inc
luding match fixing scandal, wicket keeper batsman Zulqernain Haider’s controversial statements and disappearance and other issues. Pakistan is not provided the services of Muhammad Aamir and Muhammad Asif which were the best bowlers in recent past for the team. Salman Butt is also missing in opening due to suspension in cricket by ICC for the match fixing probe. On the other hand PCB is not allowing Daneesh Kaneria (Leg break bowler) and wicket keeper batsman Kamran Akmal to play in the side due to some pressure by ICC. ICC was suspecting them in match fixing and not happy to see them in Pakistan Team.
In this scenario it is big task for Misbah to win test series. He made 1008 runs in test. In recent ODI series Misbah could only make 31 runs and after that he was dropped out of final eleven in the last 3 ODIs.
Pakistan won his last test series against West Indies in 2006. After that Pakistan lost 2 series against South Africa, 1 each against India, Sri Lanka, Australia and England. Pakistan was only able to draw 1 each series against Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka during this 4 years. This record doest not look impressive and Pakistan Cricket Team’s fans are not very much positive with the results against South Africa. Cricket gurus and former cricketers are not giving priority to any team. Pakistan team in ICC Test Ranking is on 4th and South Africa is on 2nd place.
